Meet Stormy: The Matriarch of Our Fur Family

Hello! I thought I’d start by introducing one of my fur babies each day. This is Stormy. She is the matriarch of our pack and is 12 years old. I gave her that name because it was a stormy day when she came home with me. We believe she is a pit bull/Labrador mix. She’s very easy going and patient with our 2 year old Corgi, Winnie. She had 8 puppies 9 years ago. Every morning, we have a routine. All the dogs get a half piece of toast and any needed medications. Like any good mama, she will give up anything she is eating if any of the other dogs approach her. I have to feed her in a separate room. This way, she can enjoy her morning toast and medication wrapped in cheese.

Since she is advanced in age, she’s not very playful but does have her bursts of energy in the morning. She especially loves a particular tree in our back yard because of the amount of shade it produces. (We live in Southwest Georgia, so anywhere you can find a cool place is a bonus.) She enjoys her days laying around either outside under her tree, or inside with the air conditioning. Like any tired mama, she searches for a place to escape and enjoy some peace and quiet. (I mean with 5 other dogs in the house, who can blame her.)

I do my best to give each of them the attention they need. Since she likes to hide, I get to enjoy that quiet time with her at night. I know she won’t be with us for much longer. So, I try to give her extra love and spend more time with her.
