This is Bandit, aka Mama’s Boy. He is one of the 8 puppies that Stormy had 9 years ago. I can remember the exact day because it was just before my wedding anniversary (what an awesome gift!). I only planned to keep a girl, but this guy had other plans. Once all of the puppies were weaned off mama, we had a make shift pen set up in our living room. When I would get home from work and check on the pups, Bandit would make a bee-line to see me. He chose me and nothing was going to change his mind. Of course my husband noticed it and we decided to keep him as well as a sister. Unfortunately, his sister didn’t live very long and we lost her less than a year later.
Bandit is very attached to me to the point of having separation anxiety if we leave him at a border’s. We discovered that the hard way when we left to go on a trip a few years ago. When we picked him up, the lady told us that he didn’t eat much at all. He was very withdrawn the whole time. We got him home and soon discovered that he had developed an ulcer. I noticed blood in his stool the next day and he started acting like he wasn’t housebroken. We decided to re-train him in a crate over the weekend. We wanted to see if that helped. We planned to take him to the vet the next business day. Fortunately the training worked and over the weekend he started eating more and I no longer saw any blood. We started taking him with us whenever we traveled. We did this until we found a sitter who was willing to stay at our home. During those trips, the other dogs went to the boarder’s.
His favorite toy is tennis balls and he doesn’t like to share. We will throw the ball for the other’s to fetch and Bandit will do his best to catch it first. It doesn’t matter if there are dozens of balls in the yard, if one is being thrown that is the one he wants. His best friend is Ruger. They both love to play tug with a rope, but still prefers the tennis balls.
He sleeps in the most awkward position. Does anyone have a dog that sleeps like this? And how is that comfortable? LOL!!! He was definitely given the best name because he stole my heart since day one.
